OUR STORY 💕

Two different journeys led to the same city. Carlos moved to Toronto a few months after the pandemic, ready to build a new chapter. Mira arrived in 2024 with a hopeful heart and a clear vision: pursue her purpose, nurture family, and keep God at the center.

Not long after, their paths crossed. What began with curiosity turned into steady conversations, laughter, and shared prayers. A chess challenge, a church service, and many late-night talks slowly grew into something deeper.

Over time, they found comfort in honesty, joy in small routines, and strength in keeping faith at the center. Friends and family noticed how they became braver, gentler, and more themselves together.

When Carlos proposed on a red bridge at Tommy Thompson Park, Mira’s “I do” was simple and certain. Now, they step into marriage—hand in hand, heart to heart—trusting God with every page of the story still to come.

Little Notes

How did you first meet?

On a dating app—with a chess challenge! Carlos promised to ask for Mira’s number if he won. He lost three times, but asked anyway.

What was your first date like?

We met at Bayview Glen Church with Pastor Minh as Mira’s chaperon. Afterward, Carlos joked: “I think I dated Pastor Minh and God that day, not Mira!”

What’s your most memorable moment together?

Walking Cooper by the lake. An old couple told us, “You two look great together.” Carlos took it as a sign from God and asked Mira to be his girlfriend that same day.

Who said “I love you” first?

Carlos—straightforward and brave as always.

What’s your favorite date together?

At home: Carlos cooks his excellent steak, we open red wine, play worship music, and dance together in our cozy basement apartment.

What’s one thing people notice about you as a couple?

That we laugh a lot, pray together every night, and never leave a conversation unresolved.

Who’s the better cook?

Carlos—especially with steak. Mira’s specialty is her garden vegetables. Together, they make a perfect meal.

Who usually wins at chess now?

Let’s just say… Carlos keeps trying, and Mira keeps winning. 😉

Our Registry

settling in a new country

We first met in this new country, and it’s where our greatest adventure began. Now that we’re starting our life together here, we could use a little help getting set up. Your presence is the best gift we could ask for but if you’re feeling extra generous (or just stubborn), we’ve put together our registry

BUILDING MEMORIES

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. "

May The Lord Bless You ...

Numbers 6:24–26 (NIV)

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
